Civil Disabilities: Theory, Citizenship, and the Body

Civil Disabilities: Theory, Citizenship, and the Body a two-day conference will be held at the University of Pennsylvania, Silverstein Forum, Stiteler Hall, March 31-April 1, 2011.

Over a dozen distinguished scholars, including including Anita Allen, Douglas Baynton, Susan Burch, Art Caplan, Rosemarie Garland-Thomson, Faye Ginsberg, Robert McRuer, David Mitchell, Karen Nakamura, Rayna Rapp, Susan Schweik,Tobin Siebers, Sharon Snyder, Lorella Terzi, and Keith Wailoo, representing a wide array of academic disciplines, will address a wide range of issues as they relate to disability such as immigration, education, adaptive technology, institutionalization, gender, pain, sexuality, eugenics, and reproduction.  The conference is open to the public.
